For the neurologic needs of children, The Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart provides the region’s only pediatric neurosurgeons, Matthew Pearson, MD, and Theodore Spinks, MD.

Dr. Matthew Pearson specializes in advanced neurosurgical treatments for head deformities such as hydrocephalus and has special medical interests in treating brain tumors, epilepsy and movement disorders. He has expertise in treating newborns and children with brain disorders, cancer, and spine birth defects, such as spina bifida, craniofacial disorders. He also treats trauma injuries and tumors.

Dr. Theodore Spinks has a special interest in minimally invasive and complex spinal surgery, minimally invasive and endoscopic cranial and skull base surgery. He is also an expert in pediatric concussion. Dr. Spinks provides evaluation and surgical treatment to address disease-related, congenital and developmental problems that appear in patients from infancy to adulthood.  We provide a family-centered, educational approach to care, so the patient can make informed choices about the treatment plan.
