Skincare Consultations
Some types of skin conditions don’t require any treatment. We take the time to educate you about our skin condition so you can help keep it as healthy as possible. For example, a birthmark that is prominent in your youth can fade with time. Other skin problems may need urgent care. Contact our office if you have questions or need to schedule an appointment. Our care team focuses on delivering care that is right for you.
Treatments for Specific Skin Concerns
The board-certified dermatologists at Ascension Seton are experts at treating a wide-range of skin conditions. Our dermatology clinics provide a variety of skin tests to diagnose rashes, moles, skin allergies, food allergies, bacterial or fungal skin infections, and other diseases. Skin tests are also performed to tell the difference between cancer (malignant) cells and non-cancer (benign) growths. Our physicians collaborate with scientists to develop technologies for non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. Learn more about skin tests.

Topical Treatments
Topical treatments are applied directly to the skin and are used to treat a variety of conditions. The primary benefit of topical medications is that they generally have fewer side effects than systemic medications. Commonly prescribed topicals range from simple over-the-counter acne medication to a prescription cream used to treat inflammatory conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Topical treatments may also be used to treat pre-cancerous lesions, skin cancers, and cosmetic concerns such as wrinkles and acne scars. In addition to regular prescription topicals, we likewise prescribe custom compounded creams for patients with certain conditions.
Systemic Treatments
Systemic treatments include oral or injectable medications. Systemic medications are often needed when the skin condition is particularly widespread or severe. Systemic steroids, for example, can be used to treat inflammatory conditions such as eczema or allergic contact dermatitis and may be given in the form of pills or an injection. One example of systemic treatment with topical ointment is taking an oral antibiotic to improve acne while still using a prescription topical retinoid gel and special cleansers.
Non-surgical Treatments
We offer comprehensive aesthetic services, which include advanced laser and cosmetic technologies to improve skin health and beauty. We treat sun-damaged skin and remove unwanted hair in addition to chemical peel procedures that help reduce acne scarring, wrinkles and discoloration. For anti-aging and rejuvenation, injectable treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers are also available. Therapeutic narrow-band ultraviolet light (NBUVB) and excimer laser (XTRAC) treatments help treat conditions such as psoriasis and vitiligo.
We commonly use cryotherapy, in which lesions such as warts and pre-cancerous growths are “frozen” with liquid nitrogen. While it does not work for all types of skin growths, this is a quick and safe method of getting rid of specific lesions.
Skin Surgery
Our experienced surgeons are experts in Mohs and dermatological surgery, cutaneous oncology and surgical reconstruction. Our comprehensive care teams perform Mohs surgical techniques and skin biopsy procedures to treat many types of skin conditions, including the surgical removal of:
- Skin cancers (basal cell carcinoma, melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and other rare tumors)
- Benign lesions, such as non-cancerous moles
- Lipomas, or cysts (cosmetic or medically necessary)
We address skin conditions to help improve your self-image and improve your overall health and well-being.
