Screening Test Checks Poor Blood Flow in Legs
In Northeast Florida, St. Vincent’s has vascular specialists at several convenience locations.
Vascular care vein conditions
Chronic vein insufficiency (CVI) is when there is a problem with the flow of blood from the veins in the legs back to the heart. The valves inside these veins may be damaged and cause fluid to pool in one or both legs. CVI can be present with or without varicose veins.
To learn more, call St. Vincent’s Vein Institute at 904-308-8346. We have a simple screening test that determines if you have higher than normal blood pressure in these leg veins.
At St. Vincent’s HealthCare in Jacksonville, our vascular specialists use radiofrequency ablation, a minimally invasive procedure to close the vein with improper blood flow and reroute the blood flow to healthier veins. This outpatient procedure is done at St. Vincent’s Vein Institute. Using this procedure, patients experience a shorter recovery time and the swelling and leg pain from this condition resolves.
Treating Other Vascular Conditions
St. Vincent’s vascular specialists diagnose and treat all types of vascular conditions. Peripheral vascular diseases include deep vein thrombosis (DVT), varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency, and lymphedema. When these conditions occur in the arteries outside the heart, it is often called peripheral arterial disease (PAD).
