Mitral valve care

Our mitral valve center at Ascension Saint Thomas Heart is proud to provide patients the latest advancements in the evaluation, diagnoses and treatment of mitral valve conditions.  Our highly experienced Mitraclip surgical team is a regional leader in robotic mitral valve replacement,  a minimally invasive option for the treatment of a mitral valve condition.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)

TAVR is performed in our hybrid operating room utilizing advanced imaging equipment.  This minimally invasive procedure is performed on a beating heart and the valve is replaced using a catheter inserted through the groin.  The procedure does not require cardio-pulmonary bypass and patients experience significantly shorter recovery times.  TAVR is a lifesaving procedure for those that have intermediate to elevated risk for open-heart surgery.
