Heart and Vascular Care at Sacred Heart
Throughout Northwest Florida, the Sacred Heart Regional Heart and Vascular Institute has a long history of providing innovative treatments and personalized care for heart disease patients in Pensacola, Destin, and Gulf and Franklin counties.
Our highly skilled cardiologists and vascular specialists, cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiac nurses and imaging specialists provide comprehensive cardiovascular care - from testing to treatment to recovery. For children with congenital heart conditions, the Studer Family Children’s Hospital and Pediatric ER at Sacred Heart Pensacola include pediatric cardiology services.
Our patients have access to an extensive network of cardiovascular specialists and experienced cardiothoracic surgeons (Charles Wyatt, MD). If you are at risk for heart attack or stroke, ask about the heart care provided by the cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons of Sacred Heart Medical Group.
For heart attack and stroke, our patients have immediate access to advanced procedures including minimally invasive catheterization procedures to restore normal blood flow and treat blockages leading to the heart and brain. In 2018, a leading organization for hospital quality ratings rated Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola in the top ten percent in the nation for the treatment of heart attack, heart failure, and stroke.
Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola is now providing a low-cost imaging test that can identify coronary heart disease in its initial stages by measuring buildup of calcium-containing plaque in the coronary arteries. Learn more about the coronary calcium scan.
For those with a heart valve disease, our cardiothoracic surgeons have extensive experience performing minimally invasive TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement) and mitral valve procedures to repair or replace the valve. Our surgeons also are skilled in performing minimally invasive surgeries to treat blockages in the coronary arteries.
Our interventional cardiologists perform the latest minimally invasive procedures, including advancing the catheter through the wrist artery instead of the groin. As a result, patients benefit from safer and more comfortable recovery, including a lower risk of bleeding, compared to traditional catheterization techniques.
We are recognized for our innovative treatment of hypertension, coronary heart disease, advanced heart failure, mitral and aortic heart valve replacement, heart rhythm disorders, and using minimally invasive procedures to treat heart and vascular conditions.
Advanced Treatments for AFib Using Ablation
Atrial fibrillation (AFib) and other heart rhythm disorders affect many patients who come to Sacred Heart for treatment. Of these disorders is AFIB is the most common and produces a disorganized, abnormal heartbeat. Our AFib patients have access to skilled cardiologists who specialize in electrophysiology (Keith Golden, MD, Jason Foreman, DO, MPH). These doctors focus on the electrical activity in the heart and provide medications and treatments to control symptoms and prevent strokes. These doctors also perform catheter ablation procedures to repair the electrical pathways in the heart that create the abnormal heart rhythms.
For patients at high risk of cardiac arrest and sudden death, Sacred Heart also can implant cardioverter-defibrillator devices.
