Heart Procedures Improve Recovery Time
In Northeast Florida, St. Vincent’s gets high marks for leading-edge, minimally invasive heart defect and valve procedures.
Heart Valve Structural Heart Program
Damaged heart valves can cause heart failure. At St. Vincent’s in Jacksonville, our Structural Heart Program has highly skilled interventional cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons who repair and replace heart valves using minimally invasive procedures. In this region, we performed the first transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Our use of the Sapien valve is a lifesaving game changer for many heart patients.
Another heart valve, called the mitral valve, can leak and disrupt heart function. We perform the MitralClip procedure for mitral valve repair, and in some cases, a complete transcatheter mitral valve replacement. Our experience treating structural heart conditions makes us a regional leader for this type of heart care.
Minimally invasive heart procedures available at St. Vincent’s:
- Aortic valve replacement
- Transcatheter aortic valve replacement
- Mitral valve repair - replacement
- Atrial septic defects
- Atrial fibrillation
Robotic minimally invasive bypass surgery for single or multiple blocked arteries
Ask your cardiologist if you are candidate for a less invasive heart procedure. We utilize small incisions instead of the traditional long incision associated with open heart surgery. Having a minimally invasive procedure has many benefits, including less blood loss, pain and scarring, faster healing and recovery times, and a lower risk of infection.
