If you are hospitalized due to heart attack, this team monitors your progress in the hospital, and then after discharge, transitions your care to our Heart Failure Clinic. At your first appointment, you’ll learn more about your current care plan, including ways to optimize healing and better heart health.

Heart Failure University, Your Source for a Better Heart Education

In addition to the Heart Failure Clinic, we offer a program at no cost to you about ways to manage heart failure in all aspects of your life. Eight classes in four weeks explain:

  • Anatomy and heart function
  • Heart failure medications
  • Advanced care planning
  • Nutrition
  • Stress management
  • Treatment options
  • Physical and occupational therapy (exercise recommendations)
  • Lifestyle changes

Classes are 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at St. Vincent’s Riverside on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All heart failure patients and family members are welcome. Each class includes one hour of education and one hour of supervised exercise.
