Adult Behavioral Health

Ascension St. Vincent Evansville offers adult behavioral health inpatient services for those 18 years and older. Individuals experiencing severe behavioral health symptoms and those who may have thoughts of harming themselves or others, may benefit from inpatient care. Our professional team will do a thorough evaluation to help determine what is causing your distress and how we can best help. They will assess for any underlying medical or biochemical origins to these symptoms and then work with you, your family and other healthcare professionals to develop a course of treatment that’s right for you. Treatment includes individual meetings with psychiatrists, therapists, group therapy and educational programs.

The length of stay may vary depending on the patient and their diagnosis.

We treat all types of behavioral and mental health conditions including but not limited to:

  • BiPolar
  • Depression
  • Domestic, Emotional, or Sexual Abuse
  • Mood and Anxiety Disorders
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Psychotic Disorders
  • Schizophrenia
  • Self-harm
  • Substance Use

Treatment Services may include but not limited to:

  • 24-hour behavioral health monitoring and supervision
  • Behavioral health diagnostic assessment and evaluation
  • Medication stabilization and management
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Recreational Therapy
  • Family Therapy
  • Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
  • Patient and family education
  • Discharge and aftercare planning

Our care team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, nurses, therapists, and other behavioral health specialists. Admissions are accepted 24-hours per day and patients are assessed through the emergency department. For direct admission protocol or to make a referral, contact the behavioral health department at 812-485-5025. Referrals may be made by physicians, psychologists, social workers, mental health professionals, social service agencies, family or friends. Serenity Senior Behavioral Health

Ascension St. Vincent Warrick offers senior behavioral health inpatient services. Individuals experiencing severe behavioral health symptoms and those who may have thoughts of harming themselves or others, may benefit from inpatient care. The goal of inpatient hospitalization is to stabilize the crisis and provide a plan for the patient upon discharge. The length of stay may vary depending on the patient and their diagnosis. We treat all types of behavioral and mental health conditions including but not limited to:

  • Anxiety and Depression
  • BiPolar
  • Domestic, Emotional, or Sexual Abuse
  • Mood and Neurocognitive Disorders
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Psychotic Disorders
  • Schizophrenia
  • Self-harm

Treatment Services may include:

  • 24-hour behavioral health monitoring and supervision
  • Behavioral health diagnostic assessment and evaluation

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)

The philosophy of ECT treatment is to provide psychiatric treatment for patients who have been unresponsive to standard treatment modalities. ECT treatment is based on a psychiatrist's thorough review of the severity of the patient and their illness, medical indications, and contraindications as well non-responsiveness to other treatments. ECT treatment can be provided on an inpatient or outpatient basis depending on the patient’s needs and is for the mentally ill adult patient, age 18 and older. Each patient must receive medical clearance prior to ECT treatments.

Treatment Services include:

  • Assessment to determine individual treatment needs
  • Treatment provided at the appropriate level of care
  • Inpatient or outpatient treatment
  • Medical monitoring
  • Education about ECT treatment and recovery
  • Family involvement in the treatment and recovery process

This service is operational 3 days per week, 52 weeks per year and is located in the Ascension St. Vincent Emergency Department at 3700 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN 47750.
