Behavioral Health Unit for Children and Teens
When your child is in a crisis from a behavior or mental concern or addiction, Our Ascension Northeast Wisconsin specialists are here to help.
Child and Teen Psychiatric Unit
Our program is the only child and teenage psychiatric inpatient unit with board-certified pediatric psychiatrists, neuropsychologist, therapists, school teacher and treatment team.
These services attract families from throughout Wisconsin and surrounding states.
Our pediatric mental health team has a lot of experience treating anxiety, depression and many types of behavioral concerns. When alcohol and drugs complicate your teenager’s health and well-being, we work closely with our substance use team to restore better health and recovery.
If your child is experiencing a mental health crisis and needs help, go to the emergency room.
Many specialized inpatient treatment options and outpatient programs are available, including:
- One-on-one counseling
- Teenage behavioral health group therapy
- Family meetings and counseling
Specialty programs include:
- Eating disorders
- Substance use treatment
- Grief and loss
- Neuropsychology for assessing brain function concerns and overall mental health
As a faith-based health system, we seek to heal body, mind and spirit. That means we focus on building stronger, healthier family units, especially after a traumatic experience. The first step, however, is to stabilize the mental health emergency for the safety of the child. Our pediatric psychiatrist is very experienced in diagnosing a full spectrum of mental health disorders associated with children at every age. The neuropsychology tests given by our child psychologists enhance the overall care plan. The pharmacists and registered dietitians are onsite and provide guidance to better manage medications and a daily nutrition.
We also work closely with community partners and your child’s school as part of our supportive care and outreach.
