In many cases, a care plan becomes most effective when it includes additional services that help compliment treatment. These services include:

Individual counseling or psychotherapy
In many cases, behavioral and mental difficulties are the results of health conditions, work, school, family stress or a serious mental illness. Any of which may be negatively impacting your ability to live the healthy lifestyle you deserve. At Ascension Genesys Hillside Center for Behavioral Health, we believe simply talking to a health professional can help improve mental or behavioral difficulties.

Family counseling
Our doctors provide options for families experiencing difficulties interrelating, communicating or dealing with a specific family member’s physical or mental condition. Family counseling is designed to empower family members to understand the nature of the problem(s), gain insight into the powerful influence and role of each family member and develop positive communication and coping skills.

Psychiatric evaluation
This evaluation begins with an intake assessment with one of our doctors. The assessment is meant to help us determine the severity of symptoms, establish a diagnosis, and design a treatment plan based on your needs. Medication(s) may also be prescribed to help reduce, manage or eliminate symptoms.

Medication management
If medications are prescribed, our doctors closely monitor their effects to make sure you are receiving their maximum benefits. Depending on the effects of the medication, doses may be modified or changed. It is important to our team that we continue to educate you about the medications you are prescribed and to maintain open communication between you and your doctor.

Intensive outpatient treatment
Adults who experience acute depression may benefit greatly from intensive outpatient treatment. In a therapeutic group setting, we provide the opportunity to interact with others and participate in activities of daily living to promote skills to function effectively with family and the community. These groups emphasize positive, goal-oriented activities to improve and expand your mental health, emotional wellness and social skills. They meet Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
