Childbirth Classes & Support Groups
Sacred Heart Hospital Pensacola offers a variety of childbirth and parenting education classes designed to help you prepare for the big arrival of your bundle of joy and for the days that follow back home with your new baby.

We recommend that moms-to-be complete any childbirth classes by the 36th week of pregnancy. However, early registration is encouraged, as classes and tours fill up quickly.

Prepared Childbirth Classes
Designed to help prepare you and your partner for the birthing process – including tips to make you more comfortable during labor – Prepared Childbirth Classes are taught by experienced obstetrics nurses and include a tour of the Maternity and Women's Center. Cost is $50 per couple.
This course is offered in two different formats to meet your scheduling and educational needs:

This class strives to prepare parents in caring for your new bundle of joy, from birth through your first few weeks at home. Newborn Parenting is taught by experienced nurses from Sacred Heart Hospital’s mother-baby unit, and a local pediatrician will be available to answer questions during a portion of the class. Breastfeeding is one of the best gifts a mother and baby can give to each other, providing vitamins, nutrients and disease-fighting substances your baby needs. The American Academy of Pediatrics recognizes breastfeeding as the best method of feeding and nurturing infants. This two-hour class, taught by one of Sacred Heart Hospital’s lactation consultants, teaches techniques for breastfeeding success and addresses common concerns to make your experience as smooth as possible. “My Family’s Growing” Sibling Class
This class prepares soon-to-be siblings - ages 3 through 10 – for the arrival of a new baby in their family. Our sibling class includes a complete tour of the Maternity & Women's Center of Sacred Heart Hospital. Cost is $10 per child. See the list of available dates and reserve your space here.
Mommy & Me Support Group
This free support group provides mothers with an opportunity to share experiences, gain support and develop friendships. A lactation consultant from the Sacred Heart Maternity & Women's Center will be present to answer questions and offer advice. Baby weight checks are offered at each meeting. Tours of Sacred Heart Hospital’s Maternity & Women's Center will give soon-to-be moms an idea of what to expect during your stay at the hospital, including where to go, where to park and what to bring when you arrive for the delivery of your baby. This class is open to new parents, family members and friends who will be caring for a baby or young child. Learn how to give CPR in the event of a life-threatening emergency.
Classes are held every Tuesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $22 per person, and pre-registration is required. To register, please call the Sacred Heart Education Department at 850-416-7264.
This class is an orientation to CPR and is not a certifying or credentialing course.
Online Class: Understanding Birth
From the comfort of your own home, you can experience comprehensive - and convenient! - childbirth education. This online "Understanding Birth" class takes 4-6 hours to complete and prepares expectant parents to have healthier and more satisfying birth experiences. Engaging video, life-like 3D animation, and personal birth stories give parents the knowledge and confidence they need to make informed decisions about their labor and delivery. Register here.
