About Us

Known as “Where Babies Come From”, we have a longstanding reputation for providing outstanding maternity care.

We know that providing the right birth experience for you and your family starts with listening and understanding your unique needs. We do that with more conversation and more back and forth through St. Vincent’s Monogram Maternity.

As a part of Ascension, St. Vincent’s gives you a wide range of resources to enhance your birth experience, including your very own birth designer. Our birth designers are specially trained to support you on this journey to motherhood, meeting with you one-on-one to offer resources, answer questions and help you prepare for your big day. In addition, we offer a birth experience room to test out the birth suites, a boutique with one-of-a-kind maternity and baby items, education classes and lactation support.
Education classes
St. Vincent’s offers a variety of perinatal classes and tours for the whole family. Register early (no later than your fifth month) to ensure class location, dates and times convenient for you and compatible with the progress of your pregnancy. Register earlier if you are expecting multiples. To see class schedules and to register online visit classes page.

Preparing for Delivery

Near the end of your pregnancy, be sure you have discussed with your physician what you will do if you suspect you are in labor. Many moms-to-be will be instructed to arrive at the
Maternity Emergency Care Center, which is located on the fourth floor of the St. Vincent’s Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Center.
Preparing for your delivery day
Birth Designer
Meet one-on-one (in-person, by phone, or by email) with your birth designer to help you understand the various choices available and empower you to decide which best fit your family’s needs. Examples include: birth aids, sibling plans for delivery day and how to welcome your baby into the world.
Lactation Consultation
Receive one-on-one lactation support in person or on the phone. We also offer our lactation support group Baby Cafe at several locations. This support group allows moms to meet and learn
from other nursing moms who can offer helpful tips and insights.
