Breastfeeding Success is pleased to announce that Out of the Blue: Mental Health During and After Pregnancy will be offered as a virtual live class during the times and dates listed below. We believe that during this time of social distancing it is imperative that parents are able to establish and maintain community support. Participants will be contacted with a Google Meet invite prior to class.
The fee for attendance is $40 per class per family. Breastfeeding Success offers sliding scale pricing to any family in need. Please call 512-808-0237 with any questions or for help with scheduling. We look forward to seeing you in class!

Out of the Blue: Mental Health During and After Pregnancy

These classes are aimed at anyone concerned about their current or future mental health during and after pregnancy. It is not a therapy group but is designed to help inform you about normal emotional changes during pregnancy, ‘baby blues’ vs. postpartum depression, and to provide you with proactive strategies for managing common mental health issues and provide information on where to gain further support. Participants will not be asked to share any personal information during the class.

Common pre- and postnatal mental health issues and strategies for addressing these
Managing pre-existing mental health issues during and after pregnancy
Anxieties and fears around labor and strategies for managing these
Medication concerns
‘Baby blues’
Postpartum depression
understanding risk factors
proactive preventative measures
what to expect your mood to do during and after pregnancy
how to get help and support with postpartum depression
Where to get further help and support
How to support your partner during and after pregnancy
About the classes
Each class is very informal in nature. These classes are not intended as psychological therapy but rather they are providing information on general issues, self help strategies and sign posting for where people can get psychological support if needed.
About Ellie
Ellie is from the United Kingdom. She got her Masters degree in Psychology and Mathematics from the University of St Andrews in 2002 and went on to gain her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Glasgow in 2009. Before completing her doctorate she worked as a nanny for a number of years, specializing in working with children with special needs. After graduating she worked as a psychologist in the UK, working with young people suffering from eating disorders and their families.
