Participants will be emailed a Google Meet Invite prior to their scheduled class. Course materials will be available digitally. Registration is still open. The fee for Newborn care class is $40 per family. Breastfeeding Success offers sliding scale pricing to any family in need. Please call 512-808-0237 with any questions or for help with scheduling. Read below for a message from Ascension Seton.
At Ascension Seton our top priority is the health and safety of our patients, providers, associates, and communities. As cases of COVID-19 increase across the U.S., Ascension continues to aggressively respond to this evolving situation to protect our associates and those who we are privileged to serve. We regularly treat patients with infectious diseases and our clinical teams are highly trained in infection prevention protocols. Ascension is closely monitoring COVID‐19 developments and working daily in partnership with our local and state health departments and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
After much discernment regarding the best course of action to limit possible exposure to this virus and in an abundance of caution, we have decided it is in the best interest of our associates and the community to temporarily postpone or reschedule to an online platform all upcoming hospital maternity tours and classes, until further notice. We will share relevant updates with you by email. In the meantime, please visit www.setonbaby.com to watch a video tour of our maternity unit.
The Newborn Care Class covers the basic care for the first 4 to 6 weeks of your baby's life, helping new parents transition from hospital to home!
The outline includes: Newborn appearance, reflexes and behaviors, hospital protocols and procedures, choosing a pediatrician, breastfeeding tips, burping, use of the bulb syringe, baby's daily care with hands-on practice, diapering, cord care, circumcision care, bathing, swaddling, dressing, comforting a crying baby, signs of illness and when to call the doctor, safety tips and parent resources.
