About the instructor...
Melanie is a Registered Nurse (RN), a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI 1, 2) and a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist ( CPMT). She received her CIMI certification through the International Association of Infant Massage in 2001. She updated her skills in January 2014 and received her CIMI2 Certification through WINC Without Borders (World Institute for Nurturing Communication).
Melanie was trained by Tina Allen and received her CPMT through the Liddle Kidz Foundation in June 2016.Melanie has over 20 years experience in Pediatric and Neonatal Nursing. She is infant / child CPR certified.
Melanie's personal philosophy is to promote Infant / child massage to facilitate bonding and to enable all parents, babies and children to experience the many benefits of massage.
Cross cultural studies show that in societies where babies are rocked, massaged and breast fed, they tend to develop into adults that express compassion and caring rather than violence and aggression. Melanie believes the deep emotional bonds formed in infancy through touch lay the foundation for a lifetime of love, trust, courage, dependability and faith.
Melanie has worked as a Parent Educator for Seton / Ascension Health teaching prenatal infant massage.
