Breastfeeding Success is pleased to announce that "Child Development-The First Twelve Months" will be offered as a virtual live class during the times and dates listed below. We believe that during this time of social distancing it is imperative that parents are able to establish and maintain community support. Participants will be contacted with a Google Meet invite prior to class. Registration is still open. The fee for "Child Development" is $30 per family. Child development – the first 12 months

This class aims to help you understand how your child is growing, developing and learning during the first year of their life so that you can make informed parenting decisions and choose parenting strategies or approaches that are right for both you and your baby.
Topics covered will include:
Stages of cognitive and emotional development
Developmental milestones and understanding them in a broader context
Sleep development, stages and issues
The role of attachment including soothing and self soothing
This is a one off class approximately 2 hours long.
About the classes
Each class is very informal in nature. These classes are not intended as psychological therapy but rather they are providing information on general issues, self help strategies and sign posting for where people can get psychological support if needed.
Ellie is from the United Kingdom. She got her Masters degree in Psychology and Mathematics from the University of St Andrews in 2002 and went on to gain her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Glasgow in 2009. Before completing her doctorate she worked as a nanny for a number of years, specializing in working with children with special needs. After graduating she worked as a psychologist in the UK, working with young people suffering from eating disorders and their families.
