Virtual St Thomas Midtown Birthing Center Orientation
This orientation session is mandatory for anyone planning to deliver in one of our natural Birthing Center rooms at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital.
***ALL CLASSES AND EVENTS ARE CURRENTLY BEING OFFERED AS VIRTUAL SESSIONS THROUGHOUT June***
The virtual orientation date and time is to be determined. A registered nurse childbirth educator will contact you to discuss your options.
This is a two hour informational only orientation which is mandatory for any patient considering delivering her baby inside the special Birthing Center at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital. The Birthing Center is designed to provide highly personalized care for the mother who wishes to deliver naturally (without anesthesia) within the comforts of home alongside the latest technology. This orientation will provide the expectant mother and her support person with an overview of the Birthing Center guidelines. Before registering for this orientation, contact your prenatal care provider to ensure he/she has delivering privileges at Saint Thomas Midtown and considers your pregnancy to be low risk which will determine if you're a proper candidate. The orientation fee includes both the patient and her support person. All registration questions must be answered before you submit the registration form for this orientation. You will also need to go online to preregister as a patient to the hospital. The preregistration is done through our website: healthcare.ascension.org. We recommend that you have both of these completed before you are 35 weeks pregnant.
*This is NOT a childbirth education class, BUT please make sure you are preparing for a natural birth by attending a childbirth education class or having had a previous successful natural delivery without the use of medication or epidural anesthesia.
If you've had a previous natural delivery in our Birthing Center, please contact our Birth Designer, Nurse Stephanie (615-284-7526) to schedule a private appointment instead of registering to attend one of these orientation sessions.
If you have questions that must be addressed before your orientation date, please call the Family Learning Center staff at 615-284-2229 Monday through Friday from 9 am to noon.
If your class required payment, a refund will be given if a cancellation request is received 2 business days (48 hours) prior to the start of the class/program. A full refund will be given for any class cancelled by the site.
