Tai chi is an ancient Chinese art embracing the mind, body, and spirit and is one of the most effective exercises for health of mind and body. Tai chi can be pleasing to do, easy to learn and maybe practiced almost anywhere. It is used by people of all ages to relieve pain, stress, and anxiety, and to promote inner peace. The upright posture aligns the spine; the deep diaphragmatic breathing nourishes and relaxes muscles and brings about feelings of positivity and well-being, and the slow movements take most of your joints and muscles gently through their complete range of motion. With regular practice, tai chi can increase flexibility, build strength, improve balance and coordination, enhance the immune system, and enhance concentration and memory.

Please watch this video on YouTube..

Tai chi for Health classes is a series of short-form tai chi movements that address a specific disease condition through movement therapy and application of tai chi principles.

Each specific class is  8 weeks long that meets twice a week for a total of 16 classes.

Each class session leads to the next covering the sequence of 12 warm-ups,  specific core movements, and 3 cool down forms.

The emphasis is on teaching the practice of tai chi principles through the forms, on strengthening one's core, and improving one's posture, balance and stamina.

One of the best features of this program is that it can be adapted to fit just about any fitness level making it generally safe for all ages. The gentle flowing low-impact movements are easy on one's joints, in particular, if one has limited mobility.

  • Tai chi for Arthritis - Beginners  (TCA-6):  Sun style tai chi,  teaching the initial 6 forms of tai chi for arthritis program.  This course has been approved by the CDC as an effective evidence-based fall prevention program, reducing falls and improving balance in older adults by 47%.   Anyone can benefit from this program.  This is the first of the three classes offered and an entry-level course to the tai chi for arthritis courses that are being offered.
