Sacred Heart Rehabilitative Services hosts a new Bodies-in-Motion free health seminar titled “Running Injuries and Prevention,” a comprehensive, evidence-based discussion on biomechanics and review of the treatment and prevention of running-related injuries. Join us on Friday, Mar. 1 at 4:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart at The Market Shops located at 9375 Emerald Coast Pkwy. West - Unit 1, Miramar Beach, FL.
The overall seminar objective is to provide participants with a thorough understanding of running biomechanics, how to prevent injuries and explain the relationship between lower extremity anatomy and physiology and running biomechanics to enhance the quality and duration of their exercise of choice.
Led by Stephanie Borst, DPT, Doctor of Physical Therapy, guests will learn about the latest evidence-based approaches to prevention of the following common running injuries: plantar heel pain, Achilles tendinopathy, medial tibial stress syndrome, stress fractures, chronic exertional compartment syndrome, patellofemoral syndrome, iliotibial band syndrome and lateral hip pain. Borst will discuss normal running mechanics, as well as running-specific exercises that treat a runner’s biomechanical impairments.
The seminar will conclude with a Q&A session and exercise demonstrations for the prevention and treatment of common running injuries.
