AWHONN – Intermediate Instructor Training

This 1-day instructor-training led course presents principles and application of adult learning theory for teaching the Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course and is the first step for individuals who wish to become AWHONN FHM Program Instructors.

Participation Requirements:
* Current AWHONN membership
* Successful completion of the current Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course within the last 3 years
* Minimum of 2 years recent experience in fetal monitoring
* Current clinical involvement in fetal monitoring as a staff nurse; physician; manager; clinical nurse specialist or educator
* Currently responsible for the evaluation of fetal monitoring clinical skills of others
* Evidence of ongoing professional delvelopment in intrapartum, antepartum, high-risk care and fetal monitoring

Continuing Education credits are awarded by AWHONN (8 CNE contact hours).

Pre-course work: Participants need to review AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Principles and Practice Book - focusing on cord blood gases and placental gas exchange. The participants also need to come prepared to present their pre-assigned MICRO teach assignment to the instructor and other participants in the course.
