Since 1979, the Alternative Birthing Center at Ascension Providence Hospital has provided low-risk mothers a safe birth option with minimal interventions in a home-like setting. The unit supports the belief of women and couples that pregnancy, labor and birth are healthy life events. This philosophy has grown from a deep respect for and trust in the innate power and ability of women to labor and birth. Women and couples choosing this option also have the added safety of birthing in a hospital, should medical options become necessary.

  • Orientation Class is held twice a month in the Fisher Auditorium which is  located in the back of the hospital.
  • A tour of the  Alternative Birthing Center (ABC) is also included.
  • Please call (248)-849-3919 with any questions and to confirm class.
  • If you have trouble registering please email
