About Karl F. Mech, Jr., MD
Dr. Karl Mech, Jr. is a second-generation Saint Agnes surgeon – he and his father, Dr. Karl Mech Sr., together have dedicated more than 110 years of service to this hospital. Dr. Mech joined the Saint Agnes medical staff as a thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon in 1975, after medical school and training at University of Maryland, and has been a leader in education and clinical excellence ever since. He was President of the Medical Staff in 1989 and has served in several other roles and founding member of the Board Finance Committee and the Saint Agnes Physician Advocacy Group. Because Dr. Mech passionately believes physicians have an obligation to promote high-quality health care in our community, he has advocated in Annapolis and Washington D.C. as Chair of the Hospital’s Board Government Affairs and Legislative Committee.
