PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency Program
PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration Program
The purpose of the Ascension post graduate year one (PGY-1) residency program is to create well-rounded, competent clinical practitioners of pharmaceutical care. The program integrates residents into the medication use process so they develop a firm understanding of the clinical, distributive, and administrative aspects of the pharmacy profession. It prepares them to be accountable and responsible for achieving optimal drug therapy outcomes as members of the health-care team. The program seeks to expand each resident’s presentation, teaching, evaluation, and research skills. Finally, the program strives to instill the importance of being engaged professionals, who are committed to the ongoing expansion of their expertise and to the advancement of the profession. Upon completion of the program, residents will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in an advanced (PGY-2) residency or fellowship program or to function independently as a pharmacist in an acute care setting.
